Pass on the first comic strip in a series of three to a friend and watch what happens when Helen and Maeve, two of Sandra Bell-Lundy's 'Between Friends' comic strip characters, start talking about mammograms.
Have you heard about the Thingamaboob? Well, if not, I wanted to share with you what I've just learned about breast screening at thingamaboob.ca. (If you have heard of it, keep reading because this message is worth repeating!) Made of pretty pink beads, the Thingamaboob* visually shows the different sized lumps that various detection methods can find from regular mammograms to a physical exam by a healthcare professional to checking your own breasts. I had no idea that a mammogram could detect a lump that's the approximate size of an apple seed! While at the Thingamaboob website, I also watched Between Friends**, a light-hearted comic strip by Sandra Bell-Lundy, that shows what happens when two friends, Helen and Maeve, start talking about mammograms. Click here to find out what happens. Pass it on! After watching the comic strip, think of all the special women in your life and pass on the Thingamaboob message asking them to make a promise to get a mammogram every 2 years once they turn 50.
